Phil's Musical History

Entertainment

Music has been such an important part of Phil’s life that he almost can’t remember a time that he hasn’t played an instrument of some kind or another, either just for fun or for everyone else to enjoy too.  His original instrument at the age of 6 was an 8-bass piano accordion, followed closely by the piano.

By the age of 12 he was a church organist.  Two years later, having gained experience on the new Hammond console organs of the day, Phil was entertaining in venues across the Manchester area and regularly demonstrated Hammond organs at national exhibitions in the north of England – while still at school.

For over 40 years he has performed as a solo artist, the keyboard half of an organ/drums duo – although he is a competent drummer - and as a professional accompanist for cabaret artistes in clubs, hotels and venues in north Wales and the north west.  He has also given concerts and played for dancing in venues as far afield as France and Switzerland on pipe, electronic single and multi-keyboards and theatre organs – often including the accordion for part of the performance.

At home, Phil relaxes playing his Italian built replica “Wurlitzer”, a two manual theatre organ based on an 11/12-rank circa 1929/1930 era Opus series organ. Further amplified by a pair of 200 watt powered cabinets, he has quite enough volume for his bungalow in north Wales!
