More details of the tracks on this CD
Granada/Lady of Spain
Two popular tunes undeniably played in the James Last style.
Chanson d’Amour
A gentle little song of love – literally!
Morgens um Seiben (Mornings at Seven)
A tune composed by and here dedicated to James Last and made popular in the UK when the BBC used it as the title music to introduce the annual coverage of the World and European figure skating championships. To many, the James Last “Anthem”.
James "Hansi" Last - was 79 last April and hinting that he may return to the UK for his 80th birthday at the Royal Albert Hall!
Leaning on a Lamp Post
Played in the ukulele-banjo style of George Formby. Only one setting is used throughout, but the playing style is varied to give a melody, accompaniment and even the Formby “solo” in the second half of the track.
Bolero
A condensed version of the famous Ravel piece, but still rises from the initial solo instrument to the fabulous crescendo! Add the image of Torville and Dean and enjoy!
Orange Blossom Special
Many recordings have been made of this Bluegrass instrumental piece and most of them are interpretations along a basic theme and therefore few are the same. Not all, however, have a train whistle to match, like this one!
Moonlight Serenade/Serenade in Blue
Played in the perfect style of Glen Miller with the clarinet leading the woodwind section through the first half of the medley.
A Swingin’ Safari
A well known and very popular piece by Bert Kaempfert – one of those tunes that you hear and it stays with you for the rest of the day. More recently used in a TV advertising campaign in the UK.
Petite Waltz
A light “Viennese” waltz played predominantly on a combination of the comprehensive accordion settings of the Tyros2.
Love Changes Everything
Andrew Lloyd Webber’s beautiful song from ‘Aspects of Love’.
I got Rhythm/Sweet Georgia Brown
Played in a fast jazz style with piano, guitar and vibes combinations.
Highland Cathedral
This piece, already very popular north of the border and becoming a classic everywhere else, is played … yes, on the bagpipes. True to the real instruments, the Tyros pipes have been deliberately de-tuned for authenticity.
Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves
Verdi’s classic opera chorus, known also as the popular “Speed Your Journey”, included in the repertoire of many male and mixed voice choirs.
Charmaine/Always/True Love
Begins with the “Mantovani” cascading strings and then the medley alternates between the dance band and the sounds of the mighty Blackpool Tower Wurlitzer organ.
My Way
A grand finale to the CD with this popular classic.
